Présentation de la course contre la faim pour les classes de maternelle

Le jeudi 26 avril, les enfants de moyenne et grande sections ont assisté à une animation réalisée par Action Contre la Faim et la marionnettiste Tania Czajka.

S'inspirant de l'histoire d'une petite fille de la République Centrafricaine, Tania a mis en scène une marionnette pour expliquer le problème de la faim.

Son petit personnage a beaucoup plu aux enfants qui sont tous prêts à participer à la Course contre la faim le 11 mai, pour aider les enfants de la République Centrafricaine.

Ce nouveau et passionnant spectacle d'Etienne Sibille, L'histoire de Luc, musicien de l'harmonie de la mine, décrit, à travers le parcours de ce fils de mineur qui rêve d'apprendre à jouer de l'euphonium, à côté de l'univers de la mine et du sort des enfants mineurs, l'activité des chorales et des orchestres d'harmonie qui s'y est développée.

Les enfants de toutes les classes ont pu approcher, voir et entendre les instruments qui composent ces formations : euphonium, flûte traversière, clarinette, trombone à coulisse, tuba, trompette, percussions, comprendre quelques-unes de leurs techniques et réaliser les divers rôles que peut jouer chacun de ces instruments dans un ensemble ou en solistes dans différents types d'orchestres (classique, militaire, jazz, etc.). Cette impressionnante présentation a amené de nombreuses questions des enfants qui ont découvert une pratique collective et une tradition musicale toujours bien vivantes.

Suscitera-t-elle quelques vocations de trompettistes ou autres clarinettistes… ?

CIRCUS WORKSHOP

Today your child participated in a circus workshop conducted by an actress from Perform4Schools.

The workshop used children's natural love of drama, role play and improvisation to spark their imagination and stimulate what they are working on in school.

They use imaginative and creative resources, performing arts based exercises and role play scenarios to spark the children's imaginations and provide a fresh look at traditional subjects.

Most of the children had been to a circus and they recounted the things they had seen. Then they were told about the different kinds of performances there are in a traditional circus. The drama leader had the children mimic various performers, especially the clown. The poor clown had lost his smile and they had to copy the leader herself who mimicked the ‘clown with a frown'. Finally, she taught them how to speak in banana language (and if you don't know it, your child will teach you).

They were thoroughly enjoyable and amusing workshops.

Visit to the exhibition of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition

Visit to the exhibition of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition : CM1 – Monday March 5th, 2012.

Today, the English department and form teachers took the CM1 pupils to visit this exhibition, held at the Natural History Museum.

After studying the dazzling array of wildlife photography, the pupils completed a questionnaire, asking them to identify the photograph they preferred from each of the 17 categories and finally, to pick their overall favourite. Due to the fantastic quality of all the photos, this proved quite a difficult task !

The exhibition is one of the most outstanding collections of nature photography in the world, representing the work of more than 100 professional and amateur photographers from numerous countries.

It comprises all the winning and commended photographs from the 2008 Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition – the most prestigious event of its kind in the world – selected by an international panel of judges out of tens of thousands of entries from all over the world.

The range of subjects and styles is diverse – from abstract nature images to animal behaviour and portraits to environmental reportage. Together they celebrate the splendour, drama and variety of life on Earth. Each is accompanied by a memorable caption that tells the story of how and why the shot was taken.

The exhibit fascinated the pupils, especially the category of photographs taken by children of their own age. One can only hope that our pupils will be inspired to take up photography as a hobby. If anything, the exhibition will have made them more sensitive to the great beauty and wonder of the natural world and its animals.

In the meantime, if you would like to enjoy a truly wonderful experience with your children, we heartily recommend this exhibition.

Drama Workshops for the CP classes

We were delighted to welcome again this year The ‘Perform 4 Schools' theatre company to conduct a workshop on the theme of the circus.

The workshop leader acted out the role of ring master and engaged the children in a wide variety of activities and improvisation including, walking the tight-rope, riding a horse, juggling balls and clown antics.

The children performed a rhyme with actions to the following words :

Rodeo Rider riding around the ring,
Ripped his pants on a spiky thing.
His pants fell down and ho ho ho !
Rodeo Rider stopped the show !

It proved a stimulating and motivating forum for the children to practise their listening and speaking skills and we look forward to more drama workshops in the future.

Les enfants ont une pause de déjeuner de 1h, le repas est pris au restaurant scolaire de l'école.

Il n'y a pas de déjeuner organisé à l'école.

Les enfants d'âge primaire quittent l'école seuls ;
aucune garderie n'est assurée après 15h30 les lundis, mardis, jeudis et vendredis ; après 13h00 les mercredis.

Morning club

Suite à la demande de plusieurs parents, le comité de gestion a décidé d'organiser un Morning Club. Il s'agit de pouvoir accueillir les enfants entre 8h00 et 8h50 à l'école. Ce service sera mis en place dès la rentrée du mois d'avril pour la dernière période, ce qui représente 10 semaines Les enfants seront encadrées par deux personnes. Vous trouverez ci joint une fiche de préinscription avec une grille tarifaire dégressive. Le nombre d'enfants sera limité à 20. Merci de nous retourner la fiche d'inscription le plus rapidement possible.

Dear parents,

Following the request of several parents, the « comité de gestion » decided to organise a morning club. We will be able to welcome children between 8am and 8 :50 am.

This service will take place from 23rd April. Children will be looked after by two supervisors. The number of children will be limited to 20. Many thanks for returning the registration form as soon as possible.
