Wellbeing Wednesday - Black History Month 2022

12 Oct 2022

Wellbeing Wednesday
Black History Month

"Honouring the past inspiring the future"

October is Black History Month and we have been talking to the children about the importance of this topic at school. The children have been reading, doing research and learning about Black culture and history. We have enjoyed discussions, poetry, stories and beautiful artwork that we look forward to displaying and sharing with you.

Please continue the conversation at home and talk about the contributions that black people have made to the world over many generations. We want to work towards a time when Black history is shared much more widely - in museums, galleries, schools, universities, public spaces and communities throughout the year.

I have put a link below to the BookTrust. They have put together a booklist of historical stories from Black History around the world. From picture books to teen novels, spanning fiction and non-fiction, these books are bound to captivate and inform.

The children have been asking for more information and specifically books to read so here they are!
